Searching for a truly unique wedding or engagement ring?     Look no further... Here at Rencraft, we feature a unique and very special item - we call them our "Locket Rings". These are a custom made set of two 18-karat gold or sterling silver rings, each completely enclosing an entwined lock of your and your partners hair. The symbolism and power of this design harkens back to the days of the original "locket", recalling the mystique and reverance of the holy relic. Whenever and wherever you wear the ring, you are both literally and figuratively surrounded by your loved one. The locks of hair are completely and permanently enclosed within the rings, impervious to 'wind or water', there for eternity, known but to you (and us here at Rencraft, of course...). We provide you with photographs of your rings as they are being made, so you can see the locks of hair actually being enclosed within the rings. After they are finished, there is no way to see the hidden secret of the rings, short of cutting them open... These rings are made by hand, sized exactly to order. They are not soldered or cast, which would destroy the hair, but instead are riveted closed, using a linkage of our own design which eliminates any uncomfortable 'lump' where the ends of the rings are joined. The handcrafting process leaves a very pleasing hammer-faceted surface on the rings which catches light very well. If you wish, we can planish the rings smooth instead. For those of you who are, shall we say "follically challenged", we can make the rings either with a lock of one persons hair, or with none - as a set of simply elegant gold or silver bands. Because every set of Rencraft Locket Rings is custom made, we require a deposit of half of the total cost of the rings before starting work, the balance to be paid upon completion of the rings. We require at least three weeks to complete your rings from the date we receive your deposit and the locks of hair we will use in the rings. For best results, we request at least 20 strands of hair from each person, preferrably at least three inches long, the longer the better. If one or both of the partners hair is not quite this long, that is OK, but anything under two inches will not yield very satisfactory results as far as making a complete circle inside the ring. To ensure that we use equal amounts of hair from each partner, we request that the locks of hair be placed in two separate packets (small envelopes, baggies, etc.) within your deposit envelope. Upon completion of the rings and receipt of the balance of the payment, the boxed rings, along with the remaining hair samples and the photographs, will be shipped right out to you via insured Priority Mail.
